A mixed orthodox and secular neighborhood in Jerusalem, Kiryat Yovel kindergartens run on a fixed budget, and new toys are a luxury over and above the ability of kindergartens generally. Even if there are toys, they need replacing every couple of years or sooner but there is no budget for that.
Thanks to our donors in Europe, toys imported by Israel Relief Aid were given recently by one of the local Jerusalem aid stations to a kindergarten in that very neighborhood.
This is a heart-warming help to Jerusalem’s children as they begin a life of learning. Any help they receive is always a big surprise for kindergartens in Israel, astonishing for them really, and gives the staff a huge encouragement.
The clothing in this same container is being distributed to a large list of aid stations in the country. Our agenda is to not stockpile aid, but to distribute it without delay, usually straight from the port, or soon thereafter. This is what the donors overseas appreciate, and Israelis already need it.
Young adults in Jerusalem were also remembered, and this container targeted them with new jeans distributed through a local organization that works with young people.
They give them a place to have a healthy meal, receive needed items, and talk about problems.
The container included cartons of beautiful blue jeans (jeans are very expensive here). The youth were quite surprised and so appreciative that someone thought about them.
Thank you for partnering with us to reach Israelis in need, of all ages . . . including youth and adults. Right now, with the security situation especially near the Old City, your partnership is even more meaningful. These gifts are a big encouragement, and really touch lives.
