This week (sundown May 25 - May 26) marks Lag B’Omer, the thirty-third day of the counting of the Omer, a minor holiday whose origins are shrouded in mystery. It is a day of celebration in the midst of the more solemn mood of the rest of the days of the Omer. Why is this so?

The Netherlands branch of Israel Relief Aid is excited to announce that two containers of aid have been shipped from Europe (see picture below of baby clothes boxes on forklift).  One 40-foot container will be filled with sofas, chairs, tables, mattresses, cabinets, etc. and baby clothing.

The Israeli navy has successfully mounted and tested its vaunted Iron Dome anti-missile system on warships patrolling the country’s Mediterranean coast. Yesterday, the navy released a video of the tests, which took place in February.
