From Israel Relief Aid Chairman at Rosh Hashanah 2026

  On this somber 25th anniversary of 9/11 and every morning, I watch the shocking news reports, and it is painful and can cause emotional numbness. But dear friends, l realize we must not, cannot, allow ourselves to slip into a state of apathy. Over the past year, we have received newsletters from our CEO in Israel, Jo Kaplan.  I often find myself thinking: "Our Israel Relief Aid friends (all of you) are such an example of a people who do not live in apathy. How wonderful is your help this past year, which has made such a meaningful difference for the most vulnerable sectors of society in Israel!" As we approach Erev Rosh Hashanah at sunset, it will be the beginning of a new Hebrew year and a new year of opportunity. Israel Relief Aid stands ready with boots on the ground to connect you to the Promised Land and turn your partnership into good fruit, like the pomegranate which is eaten at Rosh Hashanah. Shalom & Happy September! September marks the transition from the dry summer into the rainy season, a time when traditional readings and prayers in Israel look toward renewal and sustenance from God. Our New Holocaust Survivor Project has been a success so far. We're honored to be invited into the homes of survivors requesting our assistance, making their living quarters more safe, comfortable, and efficient .  What a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with them and uplift their spirits. As Israel turns 78, we observe Yom HaZikaron (Heroes Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel's Independence Day) to honor those lost in the fight for freedom and to celebrate the independence they secured.

Tisha B'Av: A Time of Mourning
