Hanukkah - Light Drives Out Darkness

Both Jews and Christians celebrate their "festivals of light" during the darkest period of the year. Sunrises are really late and sunsets occur in the late afternoon already. Light was created during the creation story when God spoke light into being to expel the darkness (Genesis 1:1 - 5). A parallel can be found in the Gospel of John chapter 1 where the Messiah is referred to as the light of the world.

What About Israel’s Jubilee and El Nino?

THEME SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 15:1-6 and Romans 9-11 The Nation of Israel is now celebrating another Jubilee Year in the Holy Land without its’ God, since He returned them to their Promised Land! Israelites are fiercely traditional.   Yet the Nation, itself, still remains Godless. This is tantamount to today’s secular America celebrating Christmas without Christ or Thanksgiving as a family banquet holiday without knowing who they’re supposed to thank for a bountiful, blessed harvest!
