What is the Meaning of Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day)?

Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) is an Israeli holiday to forever remember the day, after the Six Day War, of the unification of Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty.

It is also called "Day of the Liberation of Jerusalem and the Ancient City" from foreign occupation, to remember the Six Day War itself, and those who died in the war and also Ethiopian Jews who died on their way making aliyah to Israel.

Jerusalem Day is this Sunday, June 5,  and it is so full of celebrations in the eternal capital of Israel that festivities already will begin the night before.  Festive evening prayers, songs shows of Jerusalem, local artists and activities for children as well at community centers in Jerusalem and other sites.

Always remember to:
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Psalm 122:6
