A Hot Meal in a War District

New immigrants (200) in Ashdod, not far from the Gaza border, were bussed out of the bomb zone up to Jerusalem for the day in December.

Here they could relax and not have to run back and forth to their bomb shelter, or basically live in it.

Israel Relief Aid sponsored a hot buffet lunch for them, encouraging them with a program with musicians and teaching about the history of Israel and its ancient writings, and helping them forget their fears for the day.

For many of them, this was their first real meal out in their new homeland. Most of them are struggling financially. Many don’t have jobs yet, are still learning Hebrew to be able to function in the country and are having a hard time meeting monthly expenses.

It was a great blessing for them. You made it possible. Thank you!
