Tisha B'Av: A Time of Mourning

Tonight, Israel’s holiday of Tisha B’Av begins at sundown thru Aug 13 at nightfall. It acknowledges the destruction of the first and second Jerusalem temples, the sending of the population to Babylon (today’s Iraq) and various other ominous events that all happened around this time.

HOWEVER THIS YEAR, THE FOCUS in Israel IS ON THE imminent IRANIAN ATTACK VIA HEZBOLLAH IN THE NORTH, THE HOUTI'S IN THE SOUTH, HAMAS IN THE WEST AND THE IRANIAN REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS IN THE EAST.

For those in the US and other countries, the focus can be on the reversal of the infiltration of evil into our own country, the protection of the innocent, safety in society, a righteous government, a just judicial system, etc.

No matter where we are, Isaiah 58 teaches we must share food and clothing with those in trouble . . . and turn to our families to help them as well.

Our "fasting" must be with physical actions.  Then the promises will just appear: healing, protection, answers to our cries for help.

We wish all the health, prosperity and blessings for each and every one of you!

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels."
