Israel Relief Aid has begun a project to bless these Holocaust Survivors in their daily living area. Some lack appliances or those that they have are very old. Others have apartment repairs that remain with no funds to fix them.
Maya was our first Holocaust Survivor to be helped. During WWII, her family escaped to Uzbekistan. After the war, her family returned to Odessa. After marrying her husband, In 1991, they immigrated to Israel.
Today, Maya suffers from severe health problems and requires oxygen support and constant care. Her husband survived spinal fractures and has also battled cancer. Maya has an old chair, used for many years, now worn, but it helps her rest, eases her pain, and allows her some comfort throughout the day. For Maya, a new reclining chair was not a luxury item. It is a way to bring comfort and dignity to someone who survived wartime evacuation and hardship.
When Maya received a new recliner from Israel Relief Aid, she was thrilled. We are now working to help our next Holocaust Survivor . . .
