Update on Holocaust Survivors Program

Israel Relief Aid has now helped another Holocaust Survivor, Marina Sebastyanova.

Marina is 89 years old. As a child, she survived the siege of Leningrad during World War II.

While being evacuated with her mother, the train they were traveling on came under aerial bombardment. Miraculously, they both survived. In 2000, Marina immigrated to Israel together with her son.

However, her son, Maxim, now 61 years old, was diagnosed with a serious form of cancer in 2021 and underwent several liver surgeries. Due to his ongoing health deterioration, he is unable to work and relies solely on disability benefits. Marina herself survives only on a modest old-age pension.

In March 2026, Marina’s husband, Boris, suffered a severe stroke. He is now completely paralyzed and resides in a specialized care facility.

Marina and Maxim live in a rented apartment that was in need of repairs that the two of them could not afford to address – financially nor physically. There were two unsightly problems: a broken bathroom window and three walls where the baseboard had fallen and laid on the floor.

Israel Relief Aid hired contractors and had the repairs done for Marina. Both Marina and Maxim were so grateful.
